The achievement was attained by the students of the Computer Engineering Department at Nusa Putra University in the Election Hackathon event held at the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in Bandung on Thursday and Friday, December 14-15, 2023.
Two students from Nusa Putra University, M. Fahraz and Saepul Bahri, marked a remarkable achievement by securing the 2nd place in a national-scale competition organized directly under UNESCO’s auspices.
The competition, dubbed Election Hackathon 2023, as reported from the social media account of Nuansa Journalist, challenged participants to find solutions to problems within a short period.
Additionally, there was a requirement for digital innovation proposals to be devised by participants, aimed at enhancing the political literacy of young people regarding the General Election.
Assessment of the competition focused on the suitability of optimal digital technology implementation in line with the theme of Hackathon 2023, “Hacking Ideas for Hoax-Free Elections”.
Saepul Bahri stated that initially, he only wanted to participate in the event to gain additional experience. Therefore, he did not communicate with the university or student associations to avoid excessively high expectations.
“However, this made it difficult for us to find team members who have high consistency and adequate skills to participate in this competition,” said Saepul.
Meanwhile, M. Fahraz added that despite initially feeling uncertain, both of them still endeavored to give their best as a team.
“Others may boast because of their university’s name, but we promote our university’s name. We not only take pride in our alma mater, but we also strive to glorify it!” he emphasized.
Their achievements demonstrate that education at Nusa Putra University equips students with relevant knowledge and skills and encourages innovation in addressing current societal issues.
