Embracing Independent Learning Curriculum, Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) of Nusa Putra University (NPU) held a workshop on Implementing Independent Curriculum for Progressive Elementary School at Auditorium of Nusa Putra University, Jalan Raya Cibolang, Cisaat, Sukabumi Regency, Saturday ( 25/6/2022).

One of PGSD Study Program lecturers at Nusa Putra University as well as workshop presenter, Ujang Syarip Hidayat said, this workshop is an effort to prepare and equip students of Nusa Putra University PGSD Study Program in implementing Independent Learning Curriculum upon graduation or carrying out field work later.

“This is crucial for students to know, especially when they teach or do field work later, in order to meet and implement Independent Learning Curriculum programmed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and technology of which this year is the new academic year 2022-2023, each school is demanded by the government to choose to implement Independent Learning Curriculum. For this reason, Nusa Putra, mainly PGSD Study Program, responds as good as possible so that the students at PGSD Study Program understand the curriculum at school in order that they are equipped to share knowledge and experiences related to independent curriculum,” said PGSD Study Program Lecturer at Nusa Putra University, Ujang Syarip Hidayat to Radar Sukabumi, Sunday (26/6).

During his speech, he further explained about Independent Learning Curriculum such as background of independent curriculum launching, providing an overview of how independent curriculum is implemented and learning instruments that must be prepared to admit independent curriculum. At the end of the event student discussed to create a module which is then presented at the workshop.

“The point of the discussion is more about how students respond to Independent Learning Curriculum, one of which is about teaching appliances where these teaching appliances involve teaching modules and learning outcomes, how teachers set learning objectives and the flow of learning objectives that we have provided to students, that’s why at the end after completing the subject matter We provide an opportunity for students to form discussion groups and arrange teaching modules and it turns out that Alhamdulillah, within 15-20 minutes they were able to make it and understand what was being conveyed, “he said.

He also honored Nusa Putra University PGSD Study Program  for holding a workshop on Independent Learning Curriculum.

I would say that this is a good breakthrough from PGSD Study Program to prepare its alumni or students who are sent to field work activities, because the students are already equipped with Independent Learning Curriculum including how to make teaching modules, because this teaching module is innovative and I’m sure there is no school that has ever made it, but our students insya Allah, are competent and ready to implement  Independent Learning Curriculum because they have been provided through this workshop,” he explained.

Head of Nusa Putra University PGSD Study Program , Utomo added, Workshop on Implementation of Independent Learning Curriculum held to aim at preparing students, especially for those who will graduate and carry out field work to face independent curriculum, where this curriculum will be used as the national curriculum in the coming new academic year.

We invite students of Nusa Putra PGSD Study Program batches 2018 and 2020  as participants. Batch 2018 they will graduate so they have to adapt to new policies, especially in relation with Independent Learning Curriculum. Meanwhile, batch 2020, it is very important for them to know because soon they will carry out field work so when they find something new in the field, they are prepared,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the participants, Mey admitted that she was happy to be able to participate the workshop because she could get more of insight, especially Independent Learning Curriculum, since she would carry out field work.

“The event is extraordinary because here, Mey can get a lot of knowledge, especially Independent Learning Curriculum because this is pretty innovative and will only be implemented in July 2022, we are studying Curriculum of 2013 at campus as well but not independent curriculum yet because it is quite innovative so I think the workshop is very useful, “ she concluded.
