The Nusa Putra University Law Study Program (Prodi) successfully held its third International Conference last week at the National Technological University (NTU) Singapore. The conference, entitled International Conference on Law Public Policy and Human Rights 2023 (ICLAPH), presented the main speaker, Prof. Dr. Dan W. Puchniak, a law professor from Singapore Management University (SMU). Hundreds of participants attended the event which presented more than 120 research papers.

ICLAPH 2024 President Armansyah explained that this international conference was the third successful event held by the Law Study Program. According to him, this event was the first time it was held abroad after the two previous conferences were held in a hybrid manner during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In 2023, we will be successful in holding ICLAPH offline at NTU Singapore, because the two previous conferences were Covid-19, so the implementation was hybrid from Indonesia. “There were quite a lot of participants, not only Nusa Putra students and lecturers, but there were also those from Brawijaya Malang and of course presenters from Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries,” said Armansyah.

It was further stated that the ICLAPH 2023 committee chose Prof. Dr. Dan W. Puchniak, a law professor from Singapore Management University (SMU) as the main speaker because he is an expert in comparative commercial law which of course provides a broad view of the development of commercial law primarily in Asia today.

“The theme of ICLAPH 2023 is Legal Harmonization for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Solutions in Dynamic Development, so in that context we need insight from an expert who understands how legal harmonization, especially in Asia, concerns business and trade in Asia,” he added.

At the international conference, Reti Faujiah emerged as the best presenter who presented a paper with the title Analysis of Extradition Without Agreement Based on the Maria Pauline Lumowa Case. The event closed with the presentation of an award certificate and was attended directly by Juviano Dos Santos Ribeiro, Information, Social and Cultural Function of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore.
